Honest Communication

OCTOBER 25 / Antony Nembhard

Have you ever fallen down and had someone ask if you were alright.  Instead of actually saying your knee was throbbing you responded with  " I'm O.K"  Have you ever wanted to give your opinion about something but were too fearful of what others might think?  Was there a time when someone said something that made you feel sad or angry and instead of voicing your feelings you just kept quite? Well, let's be honest! This behaviour is clearly not good communication.  Along with being an Active Listener, we have to learn to be honest about our feelings and have the courage to honestly express those feelings.  There is nothing wrong with admitting  we are hurt.  There is nothing wrong with having a different opinion and nothing wrong with telling someone they did or said something that negatively affected you.  In fact your honesty could help either you are the person you are speaking to.

This week, challenge yourself to be Honest in your daily communications.  How does it make you feel?
